Ubuntu One and Dropbox

Asked by Steve10

I've just intalled Dropbox (www.dropbox.com) on my Ubuntu system. How is Ubuntu One different from Dropbox?

Also, Dropbox has clients for Mac and Windows which make it very convenient to use. Will Ubuntu One have similar clients?

Dropbox is a fantastic product, I really respect that crew.

Ubuntu One also will sync/replicate your Evolution contacts, Tomboy
notes, Firefox bookmarks, and any other application that integrates
with the desktop CouchDB.

I'm definitely sympathetic to the need for Mac and Windows clients.
We've written the core client software to be very portable, and anyone
is welcome to work on clients for those platforms. In the immediate
future, we'll be focusing on further improvements to Ubuntu though.
