Just what IS "Ubuntu One"

This thing doesn't tell me what it is and what it is for. Where is "About" or something? The site it sends me to is not any informative too.

Hopefully the new web site states this much better now:

Ubuntu One is your personal cloud. You can use it to back up, store and sync your files, as well as share them with other Ubuntu One users.

Are the files in the cloud encrypted or the connection what type of security??
