Thanks for your question. I have just installed the Ubuntu One client on my Kubuntu desktop PC, to try and replicate your problem. Alas, I cannot. I see the "Ubuntu One" menu entry in the new-style KDE Start Menu, as well as the old-style start menu too, under the "Internet" group.

In order to get the applet running, please could you run the following terminal command:

ubuntuone-client-applet --signup

and report what happens? Thanks.

The ubuntuone-client-applet command should be found at /usr/bin/ubuntuone-client-applet, and is installed as part of package "ubuntuone-client-gnome", which I now see that you do not have installed (I missed that earlier).

How did you install the Ubuntu One packages the first time? Did you use the button/link in the instructions at: https://ubuntuone.com/support/installation, or did you use a terminal command?

Please could you install the required package, using:

> sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-client-gnome

and then check for the icon in the menu as before, and/or retry the command:

> ubuntuone-client-applet --signup

Please let us know what happens. Thanks.

:) it works. After install ubuntuone-client-gnome everything works fine. I installed from https://ubuntuone.com/support/installation few weeks ago and it's work. But tomorrow I upgrade packages on my laptop (aptitude upgrade) and reboot after that. At this moment ubuntuone-client stop working.

I had the same issues so it's not an isolated incident.

I also installed a couple of weeks ago but after the upgrade ubuntu-one no longer starts at startup and doesn't appear in start-menu or the "taskbar"

> sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-client-gnome
> ubuntuone-client-applet --signup

Fixed the problem.
