Does U1 support connection through a proxy server?

Asked by PrivateUser132781

I am behind a corporate firewall and proxy. Does the Ubuntu One client follow the Gnome network proxy settings and support file transfers via the proxy?

If it does support connecting through proxy, does it also support authentication?

We don't use the GNOME proxy settings right now, but there is a bug about it and will be working on adding that soon, so that people behind a proxy can use it

2009-11-03 :
 - U1 is delivered standard on every Ubuntu 9.1 !
 - On every Ubuntu 9.1 there is System/Preferences/Network Proxy
 - And guess what : U1(silently) does not use this setting at all and goes to banana's world
 - Most (all) people using ubuntu on corporate network cannot go to the internet without using a proxy

It's seems really a bad idea to put a product on the base standard distribution that don't use the System/Preferences.
At least communicate clearly by testing connection to the outside world, and telling the user that your sorry but proxy support is not enabled for now on U1...
This kind of "bad user experience", just throw away confidence from what is a good idea and a rather good project

I'm surprised that there's no option to specify proxy settings...

When are you going to integrate proxy settings in U1 client?

I didn't expect that either ... it's been so long and the feature seems to be so simple....
