Files not sync... and questions about HD space and deleting files from one pc...

Asked by jossanaijr

Okay,
It seems I have the same problem as

111878 new to ubuntu one, synching folders, not files. topic

I've upgrade do paid version but only directories are sync not files, and I'm waiting for more then 24 h now. Sometimes it says sync and sometimes it says desconnected (so I connect it agai...). How long should I wait?

And another newbie question:
I have 2 computers. Will all files saved in both PCs (using the HD space in both PCs)? Cant I use Ubuntu One just as a backup service and each computers keeps only their files and download manually from Ubuntu One if I need? And if I deleted one file from one PC it will be deleted from the other too???

Sorry for questions and thanks,
Jorge

Hi Jorge,

i think the reason you are only seeing folders syncing and not files is likely due to performance issues we're seeing right now. We're working on addressing this currently. You can see the status of Ubuntu One services at this page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Status

You can't currently use Ubuntu One as a backup service where files are saved to the server but not synchronized down to the other computers on your account. We provide syncing services that will sync files across all your computers. In the future we may add the ability to select which folders you want synchronized on your computers but do not have that functionality currently.

Thank you,

Joshua

Hi Jorge,

It's possible there is another problem. If you want to provide debug logs, please do the following so we can look at the files via a bug report:

   1. Open Applications->Accessories->Terminal and run: echo -e "[logging]\nlevel = DEBUG" > ~/.config/ubuntuone/logging.conf; u1sdtool -q; u1sdtool -c
   2. Allow some time for files to attemp to sync
   3. Create a bug report by clicking the "Create bug report" link on the question page
   4. Attach ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log and ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exception.log to the bug report

Note that attaching syncdaemon.log will show filenames you are attempting to sync with Ubuntu One. If you do not want this to be public, please mark the bug as private and this bug report will only be available to you and the Ubuntu One team.

Thank you,

Joshua
