I dont know how to install tar.gz apps after downloading.

Im new to the Ubuntu community and not the best with technical issues, but I am trying to install programs and applications for my Ubuntu desktop but after I download I cannot figure out how to install and use the tar.gz files so that the program will work. Its like I download stuff and ill get is a folder. Please help!!

Jeron, you picked the wrong place to ask this question, so it's not likely to get the kind of attention you want.

I can say that "tar.gz" is a container that can hold anything, and it is not a way Ubuntu distributes ready-to-run software, and anything you get that way is for people far more expert. My general advice is that if you have to ask what to do with that kind of file, you should probably not be trying to use it. Please use the Ubuntu Software Center instead.
