Can you check that your computer's clock is correct? Also, do you get this error when trying to add your computer to your Ubuntu One account (does a web browser open asking you to add your computer to your account)?

Thank you,

Joshua

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. In response to your
request for more info here goes.

1)Can you check that your computer's clock is correct?

If you mean the clock in the task bar it wasn't when I first installed
Ubuntu a few weeks ago,I had to go in and manually change it in
Administration > Time and Date. If however you mean my BIOS settings for
time then yes it is correct.

2)Also, do you get this error when trying to add your computer to your
Ubuntu One account (does a web browser open asking you to add your
computer to your account)?.

I get this error when I go to the task bar and click on my user account
name>Ubuntu One, then a pop up for Ubuntu One preferences appears then
the error code that started this question thread appears without any
further input on my part.It does this every time.As far as the web browser goes
it only pops up if I click on manage account in the Ubuntu One Preferences window.

Again thank you for your help

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the timely reply. Can you do the following?

1. Open Applications->Accessories->Passwords and Encryption Keys
2. Right-click on "UbuntuOne" token and select "Delete"
3. From a terminal session run the following: u1sdtool -q; killall ubuntuone-login; u1sdtool -c

The error you're receiving normally means the system time (the time in Ubuntu) is off by quite a bit, which causes the OAuth process to not work properly.

Thank you,

Joshua

Thanks again for your help.It would seem that my system is really messed up although I am not sure how it happened.I tried what you said and the following acurred.First I Opened Applications->Accessories->Passwords and Encryption Keys, which didn't produce an entry for "UbuntuOne" token so I couldn't delete it.Second I went ahead I tried the terminal session you suggested just in case it might work any way and as you probably can guess it didn't work either just opened up the same dialog box as when I started all this.
As a side note I think this might be significant. I tried to Import an OpenPGP key so as to sign the Ubuntu Code of Conduct with a fingerprint by typing gpg --fingerprint in the terminal and nothing happens...

Thank You

Hi Michael,

My apologies for the delay in a response. Can you do the following?

Run: date -u
Then go to: http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/timer.pl

Post the output of both the "date -u" command the UTC time reported from the web site (the first one in the list).

Thank you!

Hello Joshua,

Now it's my turn to make apologies, when I didn't get a response I thought I would try to reinstall Ubuntu and see if that would work. However it seems to be the month for computer parts failure for me as now my cd/dvd drive will not read any disks so it might be a few more days before I can get Ubuntu back up and running. When I do, if the problem still persist then i will try your suggestions and get back with you. Again I do thank for your time and effort.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry to hear your DVD drive stopped working. Sometimes things just don't work right at all, huh? :-(

Once you get up and running again, let me know if you still have this problem or not. If you do, please run the command I gave previously and the output of the UTC time from the given web site.

Thank you,

Joshua
