Add Ubuntu One option to Right Click menu/"Send to..."

Asked by Kris Stewart

Hello there,

I like the idea of Ubuntu One, but I think to increase the ease of usability, you should add Ubuntu One as an option under "Send To..." when you right click on a file located on your harddrive.

Thank you for reading my suggestion,
Kris

Hi Kris,

Thank you for the feature suggestion! If we added that right-click option, what would you expect to happen to the file? Copied to the ~/Ubuntu One folder, synchronized in its current location or something else?

Thank you,

Joshua

I would also like such an option, specifically to synchronize the file in its current location. I'd use it to sync my .bashrc file and other files living in folders I don't want synced.

I would also like to see this option, but perhaps it should just do a one-time upload to Ubuntu One?

Thank you for the reply Joshua.

I would expect it to copy the files to the ~/Ubuntu One folder, similar to a mounted network drive. However any added usability from the right-click menu would be (in my opinion) very intuitive for the end-user and useful.

Kris

Hi Kris,

We are looking at ways to enable users to right-click on a file and synchronize it on Ubuntu One without having to make the user move the file to a new folder. I'm not sure this will get into Maverick or not, but it's something we're exploring right now.

Thank you,

Joshua
