USB devices (memory stick etc) not recognised
Hi.
I have a problem with a USB memory stick (Disgo) not being recognised by UBUNTU. I have checked that all the appropriate boxes are ticked under system>

john@john-
I have tried a live CD (Slax) in order to try to establish if it was a general Linux problem, this distro found and recognised my USB stick. It even let me copy from it to the filesystem on the hd.
I tried the memory stick on another PC using the live CD for Ubuntu and it recognised it. In addition, my Laser printer (Brother HL 1430) seems to work on USB port on the machine the USB stick doesn't work on, but does strange things. For example, It didn't print this document, but when I restarted the machine, then it printed.
I did dmesg again after the printer was added and got different messages, the full list follows.

The PC was bought second hand to try Linux on so I didn't get a Motherboard manual but I have looked at the board itself and it is a PC chips marked M925 V7.1. I am assuming it is a problem with this type of board.
Can anyone help please?
