backporting of fixes for block cloning to 2.2.2/noble

Asked by antst

It is not a secret that block cloning is broken in 2.2.2, and this is why it is disabled by default.
In 2.2.3 and current master there are number of fixes which makes bclone useable.
Any plans to backport those fixes?
if that works, I can backport it myself and propose change.
Although I will need some idea about workflow guidelines for Ubuntu, as last time I contributed to linux distributive was 20 years ago, when I was part of maintainers crew for Gentoo :)

There is already a package with version 2.2.3 in Debian. Maybe it is possible to request a freeze exception for bringing that version into Ubuntu noble. I suggest that you create a bug report.

(Remark: I have not checked, whether block cloning is enabled or disabled in the 2.2.3 package in Debian.)

Can you help with this problem?
