The current package version is 4.4 whereas Z3 latest version is 4.8.4

Asked by Leonardo Alt

Hi There,

I'm wondering if there are current plans regarding updating the package version of Z3.
The current distributed version is 4.4, and Z3's latest version is already 4.8.4.

Thanks.

Ubuntu is taking over software from Debian, to avoid double packaging work.
As far as I can see, also Debian has only version 4.4.1, but there is already a bug report requesting an update https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=909494

I suggest that you create a bug in the Ubuntu bug tracker, with a reference to the Debian bug report.

I suggest you report a bug.

If the security and bug fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later

Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and packages are not updated in favour of stability. This is especially true in the LTS releases. The packages are not updated just because a new version of an application is available.

Sure, but it's a >3 years difference and there are indeed many bugfixes and features missing.

Thanks!
