Picasa for Linux will not open

Asked by JOHN on 2010-02-05

I have downloaded Picasa for Linux. I installed it. The Picasa icon appeared on the Graphics page. I added the icon to my favorites page. When I click the icon to open Picasa, I see an "opening Picasa" popup but then nothing happens.

Would you please open picasa via the terminal, and post the errors?

JOHN (jlumbtx) said : #2

Sorry. I'm very new to this. I don't know how to open it with the terminal
John

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and then type:

picasa

( might be the command to run is different from "picasa" i don't know the right executable name)

then copy and paste only errors messages here...

JOHN (jlumbtx) said : #4

Here is what I got:

ohn@john-laptop:~$ picasa
/usr/bin/picasa: line 139: 1978 Segmentation fault "$PIC_BINDIR"/wrapper check_dir.exe.so
 /usr/bin/picasa: line 175: 2081 Segmentation fault "$PIC_BINDIR/wrapper" regedit /E $registry_export HKEY_USERS\\S-1-5-4\\Software\\Google\\Picasa\\Picasa2\\Preferences\\
john@john-laptop:~$

John

Please tell are you running this http://picasa.google.com/linux/ or are you running picasa using wine...?

Thank you

JOHN (jlumbtx) said : #6

Picasa 2.7 for Linux

Total size: 24MB. Picasa software (9MB), Wine (12MB) and Gecko engine (3MB).

I don't use picasa, seems you are trying to run the picasa (with wine)

Please try the http://picasa.google.com/linux/

Thank you

The one that ends i36.deb or amd64.deb ? Maybe the amd is a 64 bit program- I'm only 32bit.
