How to convert Ubuntu Desktop 9.10 into Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10

Asked by tdn

Having installed Ubuntu Desktop 9.10 onto my Lenovo S10 netbook, I would like to know if I can convert this Ubuntu installation to a UNR installation. Are there any specific packages that I need to install?
The reason I installed Ubuntu Desktop is because UNR does not provide an alternate install, which is required for whole disk encryption. (See this brainstorm idea: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/22860/ (please vote))
