Install problem

Asked by GM

Hi,

I am having trouble with installing Ubuntu 9.10. I get the CD (created from ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso) to boot and the click install and I get:

mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: No such device
Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on filesystem.squashfs

I have tried various combinations other install options (F6) with no luck. I'm trying to install it on an AMD XP Athon 2200+ MSI motherboard with a VIA KT600 chip-set.

Any ideas what could be a cause of this problem. I have tried installing 7.10 and that also crashes (from a CD I have installed on machines before). I have tried 6.10 and that can be done.

Thanks,

Graham
