Losing Mouse click

Asked by BixBIx78

All~

I have tried to search the archive and find an answer to avoid this question without any luck.

My problem..Losing all click abilities on sony vaio laptop with notebook mouse and 2 additonal USB mice, 1 wired, 1 wireless.

The is on a fresh 9.10 install (wiped out windows after a crash) This issue has happened on day 1. I am now on day 3 with and have given up on finding the solution on my own.

Notes~ I do not lose the ability to move the cursor around the screen i only lose click abilities. This happens will all apps not only one in specific.

Also for what it is worth, it seems that it would stay that way forever if I did not a) reboot...b) alt F1 then wait 30-45 seconds itsometimes restores the mouse click functions. C) alt f9 to minimize then I can open the minmized window sometimes fixes issue or D) alt f9 to minimize then I can open the minmized window freezes again then alt f1 then wait 30-60 seconds then click functions return.. I do not know if my b) through d) is realvant to the issue @ hand but it seems to fix the problem after 3-6 tries.

However the fix can only last for 2-5 minutes before happening again. Very irratating

Any ideas~Bryce

PS I am 3 days into Linux, so a detailed fix would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen with all users? You can create an extra user in root recovery mode if the mouse inactivity stops you

(select recovery mode from grub then select root)
You can then use this:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/add-a-user-on-ubuntu-server/

If it happens with all uses it is a hardware issue most likely or a global setting someplace, if it is ok then your user settings are bad and need tweaking

Can you help with this problem?
