what is glibc

Asked by Sava Pavlovic

Dear Experts,
I want to install new: ATI Technologies Linux Driver Installer/Packager on my Ubuntu 9.10.
In Manuel for Driver are requested that I should have already installed on my machine:

glibc version 2.2 or 2.3 and
 XOrg 7.5

I don't know how to check if it is already installed. I have downloaded it from the net, but I am afraid to install it, because I don't understand why I need it? or may be it is already installed?
Thank you in advance far every explanation/suggestion.

Hi Sava,

A quick way to check if it's installed is to use command locate or whereis.
Example:
locate glibc

whereis glibc

This will return the location where glibc is installed.
