turn off lcd

hi, in my ubuntu 9.04 i have created a launcher to turn off lcd.. the command was "xset dpms force off" .. its often useful like while playing music and all.. when i upgraded to 9.10, this launcher stops working properly.. now whenever i click on it, the lcd turns off but it again comes back in few minutes... how to fix it?

Try changing it to:

vbetool dpms off
