Each time you use the partition where are the deleted files, you reduce your ability to get these files back.

If you can, unmount the partition (must not contain "/", home is managable is you log as root).
If you can't and you have a second disk, boot on a live CD and copy partition where files where deleted on second disk.
So you could work on this copy.
There exists software on Linux to try to recover deleted files.
How do you have deleted these files (rm?) ?
