What version of LVM2 will be in Lucid?

Asked by JT Gould

I want to be able to use a version of LVM2 on Ubuntu which supports the physical data alignment feature introduced in early 2009. This is an important enhancement to ensure proper payload alignment with RAID arrays. See the LVM-on-RAID document in TLDP for details: http://wiki.tldp.org/LVM-on-RAID.

Based on reviewing packages.ubuntu.com, Lucid will include the same version of LVM2 as exists in Karmic, 2.02.39.

Debian "squeeze" includes version 2.02.54 which supports the data alignment feature, and I can install it on top of a Karmic system, but this is a hack and I haven't fully tested it to ensure it works fully.

So, what will be the version of LVM2 that will be supported on Lucid? I would have expected Ubuntu server users to find this an important and necessary feature.

You can request that Ubuntu sync the package with Debian sid , like: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/515066
