Switching to Ubuntu from Windows software question

i am looking to switch from windows to Ubuntu.
i was wondering if programs such as Steam and uTorrent, and self installed games would still work on Ubuntu?
and would i have to re-install/download them after conversion?

Some programs may work under WINE, others may have a Linux-equivalent (which will need to be installed). Some may not work. Often this is the reason why people dual boot Windows and Ubuntu.
