Hello

Go to www.ubuntu.com and follow the instructions on how to install ubuntu. As a try you can also do the live cd part of ubuntu and test it on your system before you make the change just to see if it runs well. The live cd wont install but only if you ask it to install it will. This is a great way of trying out ubuntu! The website has all the details.

You can also check if someone in the world has the same laptop as yourself by searching https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam to see if your laptop has been tested and if any bugs are present.

All the best :)

Just download the Ubuntu .iso and then burn the iso onto a cdrom.

Boot from the cdrom (Ubuntu Live CD) and choose to use Ubuntu without changing your computer system.

You can check whether your sound, graphic, network, wireless, etc.. using the live cd.
