Unable to install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

Asked by Siddharth

Hello Ubuntu team,

I have downloaded Ubuntu LTS 64-bit version and I've burnt it using infra recorder as suggested.
My computer specifications are:
320 GB HDD
2 GB Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
Iselton LSD MBD.

When I boot and try to install Ubuntu from the CD,it installs till 3% saying something like "Installing Linux Kernel" and after some 30 min. ,immediately it installs to 100% and after this,I have to wait more 15 min.,and at the end,the screen displays a small white cursor blinking rapidly at the top left corner, and then nothing happens.
Even before,I tried to install Ubuntu 9.10,but it said "No disk" and gave some error,so I switched to 8.04 version.
Please help me with this problem.

Did you checked md5sum as described https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM ? if it is O.K. then burn iso on lower possible speed and then check disc integrity https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck?action=show&redirect=CDIntegrityCheck
