Internet Connection Sharing in Ubuntu?

Asked by coljohnhannibalsmith

I'm running Hardy on my Laptop and connecting to the Internet through WiFi at the local library. I need to get the WiFi working on another Laptop and don't have a hardwired connection at home.

Is there a way to enable Internet connection sharing on my Laptop, so that I can connect an Ethernet cable from my first Laptop to my second so I can activate "fw-cutter," which needs to download the WiFi firmware from the Internet?

Thanks, Hannibal

i tried all kinds of stuff to do this but if you plan to do it you MUST have a crossover ethernet cable or it's impossible (this is based off of what i've read on the internet)

When sharing internet wired between computers a crossover is necessary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_crossover_cable
