forgot admin password

hi i installed ubuntu 8.01 long back but i forgot the admin password n now am unable to install plugins or any ubuntu platform softwatres please help me regarding this......

In the howto you posted wojox the root password is asked so that doesn't seem to be the way. :-)

santustar2009, steps to change your root password:

1) boot your PC,
2) Press esc at the grub screen
3) Go to the line of the default kernel and press 'e' to edit it
4) append at the bottom 'init=/bin/bash' without quotes
5) press 'b' to boot (well, If I dont remember wrong, however you have instructions in that grub screen
6) once you have booted you'll be in a bash prompt
7) mount the root filesystem in read/write mode:

mount -o rw /

8) now change the root (or whatever user you need to change it's password

passwd root

9) finally restart

reboot

No it doesn't ask for you root password. Try it.
