Can't mount Ubuntu HDD after a crash

 Ubuntu has crashed and can not get in to it, it starts to load but then heaps of errors, I booted from Disc but can not mount the HDD. more errors there

Says
under detail this is what it is saying.

mount: wrong fs type,bad option. bad superblock on /
dev/sda1, missing codepage or help program,
or other error In some cases useful is found
in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so

help i can not save anything on the hdd.
can I repair from the disc? getting into ubuntu would be great but if I can just save everything and reinstall.

Hi

have You tried using fsck to repair the partition?

The syntax is:

fsck -t file_system_type /dev/sda1.

You can do it in the Live CD environment.
