uninstall ubuntu 9.10

Asked by Prem Pal

Buenas tardes,

Gracias

Juana María

Regarding removing grub:

When booting from a Windows XP disk, one should have the option to repair the system instead of installing. Choose the repair option and there the "Recovery Console".

The "Recovery Console" will let you choose which Windows installation to fix (important for multi boot systems) and ask for the Administrator password.

In the "Recovery Console" command line the command "fixmbr" should get rid of GRUB.

Regarding resizing the Windows XP partition:

If you don't just want to throw away the installation (including all data) by doing a Windows XP reinstallation, I'd do it this way, if I were contrained to just Ubuntu and Windows XP as tools:

- Boot from an Ubuntu CD.
- Choose starting from CD instead of installation. This will start a LiveCD system.
- Use gparted to change the Windows XP partition size. It should be in "System" > "Administration" > "Partition Editor".

Note that you should have a working backup before doing this!
