I am brand new to Linux, Ubuntu, and Launchpad, and need help adding this PPA.

Asked by rmalaker

I tried to install free Avira Antivirus Personal on my Ubuntu Karmic machine, and found Avira would not activate the Guard function. It did not have Dazuko, which it needed for this. So I downloaded Dazuko and tried to install it, but it needs debhelper. So I downloaded debhelper and just before attempting to install, I found info about this process, guiding me to Launchpad to install it as a PPA. The devhelper app is available from Launchpad, but I have to first add Launchpad as a PPA to my Ubuntu machine, so I am seeking instructions for doing this.

The instructions say to copy the first line from the overview page, but what or where is this "overview page"?
All I see is "similar to", without ever seeing the actual page. Am I missing the link?

Thanks,
rmalaker

Here's a simple way to install debhelper, Applications -> Accessories
-> Terminal and then

sudo apt-get install debhelper

That should do it for the most part

To add a PPA use the software sources app in system -> administration

You can then add the ppa there using the short link on the ppa page and keys will be managed too :D

You can then install what you need using software centre etc, it is rare in ubuntu to actually download apps to then install.

Can you help with this problem?
