I don't understand why you need Microsoft Office 2007 on Ubuntu when you already have Open Office installed on Ubuntu.
To access open office, go to applications > office > open office ..........
You don't need Microsoft Office 2007 on Ubuntu.

Additional to get same Office suite you can also install openoffice.org in Windows http://www.openoffice.org/ to get same free and opensource tools (strong suggested).

It is unfortunate that some people do not seem to understand that there are good reasons for wanting MS Office for one does not always have the choice of which office suite to use.

Open office is OK but if one is submerged and need to interact and contribute (as often is the case) in a world where the documentation, templates included etc is (often for historical reasons) fully in the MS office suite format one really has no choice to either

- stay in Windows,
- dual boot
- build a virtual PC running windows and its office suite
- run the windows suit from a windows sever running citrix .

Some people have tried running with some success the MS office suite under Wine but for me there were enough things not working so that I could not consider this a practical solution.

It is not for the lack of trying to use the OO suite but in the end I was taking a large performance hit for wanting to stubbornly do so : there are always problems with documents for which I was not the originator but just a contributor with tables, frames, pictures, equations, just fonts and symbols etc that requires that one does need to solve before coming to the actual work one needs to do. Inversely it is not acceptable for me to distribute OO documents in the organizations with which I need to interact.

Furthermore, although I consider for many aspects Ubuntu's version of the Desktop Linux superior to the Windows one (and in fact is now nearly 9 months since I booted the windows partition the last time for my work, and nearly two years at home (including the wife and kids)) , the open office suite has yet to convince me : I like the MS suite better ...

I my opinion this is one of the main reasons remaining why linux for the masses won't happen soon.

Someone told me that the famous Apple vs Microsoft 'look and feel'-law suite of a decade or more ago terminated with a deal for Microsoft to have to keep a Mac version of it's office suite up to date. I wonder what it would take to have MS to have a linux version of their office suite ?

(this is probably not the place to have this discussion of the zillionth time, I was in fact looking for another bug when the title of this bug caught my eye)

Can you help with this problem?
