I'm downloading on a Vista system then going to burn it for the computer that has the bad XP system. I would like to remove the XP and only run Ubuntu. Does Ubuntu do this on it's own when it is installed or do I have to do this? If so how?

If your computer where you want to install Ubuntu is having only one OS i.e. XP occupying full HDD, then its easier.
I suppose :
you have a system with *only* XP which is now corrupt.
you want to *completely* remove XP and add Ubuntu.
There is *no other* OS installed on this system.

Then simply burn the ubuntu image to CD and boot from the CD.
At the time of partitioning (maybe 4th or 5th step), you will be asked to choose where to install Ubuntu. Select full HDD.
Thas all. All other things will be taken care by Ubuntu.

Here after this you will *not* have XP or any other OS other that Ubuntu.
