How to configure Webcam for Skype in Ubuntu?

Asked by AnandVKurup

I am unable to use my web-cam to make video calls via Skype. But it is working fine in Cheese. Should I make any modifications to uvc. If yes, what are those modifications?

You can find a list of compatible webcams and troubleshooting info at the following link:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SkypeWebCams

If this doesn't help, then please post another message here with the following details:

1. What version of Skype are you using? (About Skype from menu)
2. What type of webcam?
3. Have you tried selecting the webcam on Options menu | Video devices?
4. Send along symptoms or other things you have tried.

I had issues making the webcam work but with some others help mine now works. however. Skype now sees the web cam but doesn't give me the option to choose the web cam/mic as my microphone. They are one in the same. Do you have any advice for that?

Can you help with this problem?
