AMD 64 bit system installs ubuntu as i386

Asked by Hadriel

I have an HP Pavilion Dv7-1245dx with an AMD Turion x2 64-bit processor, ATi Radeon HD 3200 graphics card. I orderd the free Ubuntu disc, 64-bit, but either my system is only seeing it as i386 and its both or its just i386 and idk, but my system is very much an amd 64-bit and there are certan programs such as using full 4gb ram and running some 64-bit apps that i cant do so i downloaded the amd 64 iso of ubuntu, will that work or is there something i can change?

The 64bit ISO should work just fine. Just burn it to CD and run the install.
