dont know if i have full ubuntu on PC

Asked by keith hubble

I recently tried to install dual booting ubuntu with Vista on my PC which is a HP Pavillion desk top
i shrank the hard drive to create a partion and inserted the UBUNTU cd when i selected use largest
free space and the continued it came up as insufficient free space exists to complete download.
When i start my PC up i get the option to tab down to Vista which works ok and i have lost nothing
when i select ubuntu it comes up with the orange ubuntu screen and i can access the internet ok
by clicking on the toolbar at the top..how do i know if i have the full version and can i have a homepage
of my choice rather than the blank orange screen.
If i need to remove ubuntu and start again how do i remove it without causing any problems.

Do you have a top panel with menus?

Press Application -> Accessorices -> Terminal.
In it type sudo apt-get update
then sudo apt-get install -f

If you got no error then I'm sure everything is fine...

If you want to REINSTALL ubuntu , just start the install again , have it format the linux paritions first ( you get to choose before selecting which disk/parition).

What do you mean by homepage? Do you want to change the desktop bakground? the firefox default address?
