How to install ubuntu on a computer which does not have a hard disk

Asked by chintalvaady

Hi,

I know that every computer needs a hard disk to store the operating system and other files. Now i have been trying to build a cost effective computer with my own available gadgets. Now is it possible for me to install Ubuntu (which only needs 4GB of hard-disk to install) on a 8GB Flash Drive(Pen drive).I have a Intel processor with decent processor and 1GB of RAM i have almost got everything except a hard-disk.So im planning to use my pen drive to use it as the secondary memory to store the OS related files and iḿ planning to use portals such as MY SPACE to store my personnel files(Since i have a extremely fast INTERNET connection).Guys!! please help me to build this computer which will completely run either ubuntu or xubuntu(for performance reasons).

Its possible. Simply plug your Flash Drive > put the ubuntu CD in CD Drive > and boot the system.
Rest of the procedure is same as if you are installing to HDD.
Because Flash Disk will be recognized as a HDD during installation.
