Applications<accessories>terminal and type

sudo fdisk -l

Post output here to see if you still have windows partition or you installed Ubuntu over it.

Hi,

It sounds like you overwrote windows when installing Ubuntu.

Usually the Windows partition can be seen from Ubuntu, for example if you have Windows Vista, on the desktop (or file manager) in Ubuntu, you can see a hard drive icon called Vista that you can click to access the Windows partition.

If you cannot see it, either the disk where it resides is not mounted, therefore Ubuntu cannot see it, or you really overwrote Windows during installation. If the former is the case, then no worries, because I believe your data are still there, somewhere.

If the latter, then I am afraid there is not much you can do to recover your data.

Dear arman,
After log in to Ubuntu,
as zvacet said,
go to Applications>accessories>terminal and type

sudo fdisk -l

give your password and post output here.

Then we can get detail info about your hard drive.
Thank You

restore the data from backup. If the data is important it will be backed up.

You could also boot to live CD and run foremost on the disk to maybe restore data. You will need another partition to spit the data out to)
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DataRecovery

The screens clearly state the data on the disk will be lost, you needed to use the partition resizer to resize your NTFS partition to make space for Ubuntu.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask arman for more information if necessary.
