Yes, the ipod nano is supported by Amarok in Ubuntu.

The minimum Amarok software version requirements can be found here:

Hi,

Amarok is not the only Linux program that supports ipods.

Here are more "iTunes" alternatives for managing ipod nano's in Ubuntu:

i am finding it difficult to get the grips of using Amarok - is this the closest software to 'itunes'?

If you use KDE then Amarok is a great coice, f you use GNOME than something like banshee is great. I don't use Apples garbage hardware so can't tell you first hand but most folks have good results with these.

If you put the think in disk mode (if it has it) then you can check if it shows up in the output of:

sudo fdisk -l

thne just copy to it like a USB disk.
