How to install Java plug-in for FireFox?

I'm very new to Linux. Downloaded a Java plug-in (jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin) file for Firefox however can't seem to open and install the file. Help please. I'm running Ubuntu 5.10.

to install java plugin for firefox you have only to go to synaptic packages and search it ,then just install that and restart the browser if its running.
