I need to know how to control my desk top remotley

I am trying to use my remote desk top but I am really new at this. I need to control my lap top to monitor what my children are doing. Any help would be appreciated

Do you want to set up your laptop so that you can control it remotely or is it already set up and you just want to connect to it?

Sorry I fell asleep. But any way Ineed to know how to set it up and control it w/out them knowing what I am doing
