I am not certain this answers you question. Please let me know if you need more information.

If you would like to access the command line use Terminal under Applications, Accessories.

Maybe you are missing the Hoary option of "Start Application". You can simply type a command line after typing [ALT+F2] which opens a window "Start application". I hope this might help.

Additionally you can bring up a terminal from Applications->Accesories->Terminal

Hi!

Try checking the volume for not just the "master", but also things like "PCM", etc. Double-click on the volume icon and check from there.

I hope this helps.

Can you help with this problem?
