installing network printer

Asked by Peter Taylor

I have a brother dcp-150c printer on a windows network printer. I can see the printer but the drivers in selection do not include the dcp-150c. I downloaded the driver to my desktop but have absolutely no idea what to do with it next...... total time using ubuntu = 1 hour..... I have tried it in the past with many versions and have always ended up lost. My version now is 8.04 and very user friendly, so am persisting. Please help, but keep it simple thanks... Peter

Open a terminal window (Applications menu, Accessories) and type

sudo apt-get install brother-cups-wrapper-extra

After that installs, go to System menu, Administration and have another go at setting up the Printing.
