Saving Attachments with pictures

Asked by J. Shanahan

Hi there,

Firstly is it ok to have Ubuntu installed on the same Computer as Windows.
Secondly some time ago I was able to save all attachments of my emails, especially the ones that had attachments with scenic pictures and word. For some unknown reason now when I save them in my documents folder there are no pictures just pages and pages of jumbled words and no photos. What I cant understand I use to save them all the time, but all of a sudden they just wouldn't save in the format that they came in. I can't seem to get the attachments to come out like the original that was emailed to me, so please could you tell me what I am doing wrong.
You guys do a terrific job I am a pensioner and really enjoy my computer, I don't know what I would do without it I have just turned 71.
Thanks so much for all your wonderful time and energy that you put into helping everyone.

Regards
J. Shanahan

yes it is safe to have ubuntu on the same computer as windows, its called 'duel booting', many people do it.

If the email software you use is "evolution email client" then normally the way to save your email attachements is to click on your email, and then click the save button that appears in the bottom panel (it should say something like 1 attachment [save])

Dear Gord,

No I use Thunderbird maybe that is my problem, I find it easier for me to use. So maybe that is why I am having the problem. I have edited my original questions it was getting late last night when I typed it out and I didn't explain myself very well. So maybe I should change to Evolution. I press Save on Thunderbird and as I said it doesn't save the way it came in.

Thanking you.

in the case of Thunderbird you can simply right click on the bottom panel that lists your attachments and goto 'save all' (or just save as if you don't want them all)

Can you help with this problem?
