ESS AudioDrive ES1868F ISA soundcard is not detected.

Asked by fafnir

I have an ISA sound card (ESS AudioDrive ES1868F) that doesn't seem to be detected at all under Ubuntu Breezy. It works fine without any downloads under Windows XP Pro but as I said, it's not just having problems, it doesn't show up at all under Ubuntu. I'm assuming I just need the driver but such a driver is proving difficult to find. Can someone please help??

Actually, your problem is probably that the Linux driver is not able to detect IRQ number and DMA channel to use. So that you have to
explicitly tell the driver IRQ and DMA by giving options.

You should begin by reading:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems
which actually take your card as an example.

But you may find this a bit hard to do and understand if you are
not used to modify configuration files.
Please do not hesitate to ask more help,
after reading previous link!

Can you help with this problem?
