Trouble installing downloaded programs

I am new to Linux platforms. I am attempting to install clam av, but cannot seem to figure the process out. Cany guide me?

How did you obtain ClamAV? Did you download it from the website? If you really want it, there is a package in the repositories. Synaptic Package Manager will allow you to install it. However, it is very unlikely that you need it, as Linux has few viruses. The primary point of ClamAV is to scan Windows files/emails for Windows viruses, so unless you need to scan for Windows viruses on your computer, you don't need ClamAV.
