2 questions:how do I start samba in ubuntu (I have downloaded it and is installed)
and how do I get access to the windows disks in my computer?

ad 1.
 you can start the samba server by going to the System -> Administration -> Services menupoint
look for the folder sharing entry and check the box next to it.

to add folders you want to schare:
in the System Menu: System->Administration->Shared Folders
(note: check browseable or it will be invisible on the network)

ad 2.
there is a menu entry (again in the System menu):
System->Administration->Disks
now look for your windows partition in the partitions tab
 you can select an Acess Path now ('change' butten next to the text field)
->select or create a directory where you want to acess the windows partition
after selecting the directory you should see the path in the text box
next klick on the 'enable' button and here you go

Thanks Mathias ! Right now my linuxsystem is down and I ´m going to re-install it soon. I´ll use your tips when it comes to interact with my win partitions
