can't mount floppy drive

Asked by jumbo_jimbo

Used the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure fdmount

got this answer

Package `fdmount' is not installed and no info is available.
Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files,
and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents.
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: fdmount is not installed

what to do now?

Well, the obvious answer would be to install it with "sudo apt-get install fdmount". :)

However, you should not need the fdmount package. Try this instead:

1: Right-click on a blank area on the top panel, and select "Add to Panel...".
The "Add to Panel" window will open.

2: In the Add to Panel window, scroll down until you get to the "System and Hardware" section. In that section, highlight "Disk Mounter" and click Add.
The Disk Mounter applet should appear in the top panel.

3: Whenever you need to mount or unmount a volume, click on the appropriate icon in the Disk Mounter applet.

Can you help with this problem?
