Access from MAC to Ubuntu 7.10

Asked by lazybaer

I cannot access Ubuntu files, neither form a MAC nor from a XP-PC.

I defined a public folder in Ubuntu. All systems refuse access - whatsoever. MAC and XP 'see' the Ubuntu PC but won't access and won't accept either the user name or the password.

Any hint?

At least for windows networks, you have to install a program that is called samba. I guess it work with macs too. It will make your linux visible on a windows network. I am not a samba expert, but you can find lots of info on the web. Install through synaptic the packages samba samba-common gsambad samba-doc samba-doc-pdf.
