Where do I find help files

Asked by C Kerney

I downloaded ubuntu 11.10 and can not find the help files, it shows in the ubuntu software center that they are installed with a green check mark but I can not find them, also I can not find the document viewer for pdf either.

I read somewhere that ubuntu has help files now similar to windows. I have looked everywhere I can think of and still no luck.

I should mention I am using it from the DVD to see if I will like it before I install.

Have you tried this--Locate Applications on task panel, click.scroll down to locate Ubuntu Software Centre, click to get the desired window on it top right see a search panel ,type in "help"you will see a number of applications relative, the top one is Help(yelp) with a green check and Get help With Ubuntu noted after the check.Next clear "help| you typed in the search window and enter" Pdf "to again get a fresh window listing the various pdf related software in this case you can see document viewer is green checked.Green checked items are already installed, nothing needs to be done.Otherwise click select any desired and the rest is there for you to do,graphically explained.Hope this helps Rest assured you can proceed with installing UBUNTU it will never let you down. NOTE This information is from my installed version not from live CD test
