unable to share printer between ubuntu machines

Asked by johnvile

I have a home LAN with three computers. I want to attach a printer (Epson stylus D68) to one machine and share it with the other two. Printer is detected by machine it is attached to but cannot get it seen by other machines (all running 6.06) even if 'detect LAN printers' is ticked. I used to run Fedora but changed to Ubuntu because printing was hit and miss. Now can only print from one machine and am near despair! Please help.

Me neither!
I've tried every combination of settings in System->Printing->NewPrinter without effect.
Doing a print gives every indication of working; document in queue, etc, and it says 'Printing...' but nothing emerges.
Printer works fine from it's own machine.
Any help appriciated.
