connect a pixma ip2200 Canon

I did download from canon.de:

cnijfilter-common-2.60-1.i386.rpm
cnijfilter-common-2.60-1.src.rpm
cnijfilter-ip2200-2.60-1.i386.rpm
cnijfilter-ip2200-lprng-2.60-1.i386.rpm

the printer is connected by USB

somehow it does not work

rpm files are installation details for other distributions. You might try converting these files to .deb using alien.

To do this, install the alien package. Then open a terminal (applications -> accessories->terminal) and type "sudo alien *.rpm".

This should generate a lot of .deb files, you should be able to install these by typing "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" in the terminal.

You should note that using alien is far from guarenteed and is perhaps even unlikely to work. If you can find .deb files it is better to use those.
