DVD playback capability

Asked by plynch

I am using totem movie player version - Totem Movie Player 2.18.1 (Movie Player using xine-lib version 1.1.4 and GNOME) when I load a DVD I get this error "Totem could not play 'dvd:///media/cdrom0'" (There is no plugin to handle this movie.)

What is the fix for this? I followed the instructions on "http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty" but they did not work. here is the specific link "http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#How_to_install_DVD_playback_capability"

Regards

I after a lot of monkeying around I got gxine to play DVD's. The Ubuntu help page does not have all the steps necessary to make this work.
