Previous installation hasn't been completed

Asked by Nick Martin on 2010-05-11

My system froze during installation of Amarok (using Ubuntu Software Center) and I shutdown the computer using the power button, instead of shutting down via software. Amarok is now installed, and seems to be fully functional, but I would like to uninstall it. However, some accompanying package must not have installed completely, because when I try to remove Amarok (again through the Software Center), I get a message saying, "Previous installation hasn't been completed: The installation could have failed because of an error in the corresponding software package or it was cancelled in an unfriendly way. You have to repair this before you can install or remove any further software." Is there some way to repair the installation so I can remove it, or should I just remove it via command line?

try: sudo apt-get --reinstall install amarok

If this succeeds fully, then you can then run:

sudo apt-get --purge remove amarok; sudo apt-get --purge autoremove; sudo apt-get clean

Can you help with this problem?
